Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Au is experienced in the assessment and management for a wide range of common and complex mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder, eating disorders, and personality difficulties. Being dually accredited by the GMC as a Specialist in General Adult Psychiatry and Medical Psychotherapy, Dr Au has particular interests and expertise in treating patients holistically, by combining pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches. She is experienced in range of psychotherapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mentalisation-Based Treatment (MBT), Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and Systemic Therapy.
Dr Au graduated in medicine at King’s College London. She was dually trained in General Adult Psychiatry and Medical Psychotherapy at South London and Maudsley, where she subsequently worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders and Consultant Medical Psychotherapist. She is a GMC-recognised trainer, and she supervises psychiatrists in training as well as other consultants in the field of eating disorders. She teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level and has delivered teaching on Eating Disorders to doctors and allied healthcare professionals across clinical settings. Dr Au has published a number of chapters and peer-reviewed journals. She is also a keen mentor/coach and was the Lead and Supervisor for the Maudsley Peer Mentoring Scheme.
In her current NHS practice, Dr Au works as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead for the Vincent Square Eating Disorders Service at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. She also serves as a Regional Representative for Eating Disorders in the London Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Au is bilingual in English and Cantonese, and proficient in Mandarin.
