Psychosis Treatment at Home

Psychosis is a medical term used to describe a condition that affects the way the brain processes information. Often described as a ‘break from reality’, people experiencing psychosis perceive things differently from what is really happening, such as seeing, hearing, or believing things that are not real. Psychosis itself is not a mental illness, but symptoms of a physical or mental health disorder.

Orchestrate Health provides private psychosis treatment at home, allowing patients to receive the finest care from the comfort of their own surroundings.

As we provide a private pay service, Orchestrate Health works outside of the NHS. We are committed to ensuring patients receive the highest standards of care available.

Causes of Psychosis

Psychosis can be very frightening for the person experiencing it. Psychosis is more common than people realise, but many choose not to discuss it because of the stigma surrounding it. Most people who receive treatment go on to lead healthy, productive lives.

It is unknown exactly what triggers psychosis, but there are several risk factors that can come into play. These include:

Physical

Psychological

Several mental health disorders can trigger psychosis. These include:

Drug and Alcohol Misuse

Alcohol abuse and certain drugs can heighten the risk of psychosis.

Environmental

Traumatic events or personal experiences can also increase the risk of developing psychosis. These include:

Symptoms of psychosis

There are two main symptoms of psychosis – delusions and hallucinations.

Delusions are beliefs that are false, and appear irrational to others. Typical delusions include:

Hallucinations are sensory perceptions that are not reality. Typical hallucinations include:

People can also experience a change in emotions, often showing less feeling to those around them. A change in behaviour is also common, with some becoming extremely active, whilst others find it difficult to find the energy to do everyday activities such as seeing friends and family. Others may become easily confused, finding it hard to put sentences together, follow a conversation, or find things difficult to understand and remember.

Psychosis can affect people differently, and not all symptoms will be present at any given time. As there are several causes of psychosis, symptoms can change alongside them.

Private Psychosis Treatment at Home

If you are concerned you may have psychosis, you should seek help as soon as possible, as this will minimise the effect it will have on relationships and everyday life. If you are diagnosed with psychosis, the best course of treatment will be tailored to manage your symptoms.

Effective treatment options for psychosis include:

Antipsychotic Drugs

If necessary, your treatment could involve the use of antipsychotic medications to manage symptoms and help you make the most of the rest of your treatment. Depending on your situation, your dosages may be reduced over time.

Therapeutic Interventions

You will be able to access psychosis-specific talking therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you understand your condition, develop healthy coping strategies, rid yourself of negative thought patterns, and set achievable goals.

At Orchestrate Health, you will also have the option of family therapy to help you build your support network and set the path for long-term recovery.

Live In Support

If necessary, we can arrange in-home support such as:
