At Orchestrate Health, we’re committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred mental health care – and the people leading our services are central to delivering that vision. This month, we sat down with our new Clinical Director, Peter Crascall, to mark the beginning of his role and explore the experience, insight, and values he brings to the position.

With a career spanning over 35 years, Peter’s clinical expertise and thoughtful leadership are already making a profound impact. Here, he shares his approach to patient care, why home-based treatment matters, and what excites him about Orchestrate Health’s next chapter.

Can you tell us a little about your background, and what led you to this role as Clinical Director?

“I began my career as a Registered Mental Health Nurse more than three decades ago, and over that time I’ve worked across both public and private sectors, with a particular focus on psychotherapy services and leadership within the independent space. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Studies and have led clinical operations for a number of mental health providers.

My relationship with Orchestrate Health began as an external consultant, and it became quickly apparent that the team’s values around quality, personalisation, and innovation aligned very closely with my own. I’m delighted to be joining in a more permanent capacity.”

What excites you most about joining Orchestrate Health and leading its team of clinical associates?

“There’s real potential here. Not just in terms of growth, but in delivering something genuinely different. I’m fortunate to be working alongside a group of clinicians who are incredibly skilled, compassionate, and committed to the highest standards of care.

What excites me most is the opportunity to shape how we deliver treatment in a way that remains progressive, responsive, and rooted in best practice. Orchestrate Health is positioned at the forefront of modern mental health care, and it’s genuinely a privilege to be part of that journey.”

Orchestrate Health provides highly personalised, at-home mental health care. In your view, what are the key benefits of this approach?

“Personalisation is often cited as a goal in inpatient settings but, in reality, even the best hospitals have to contend with limitations tied to delivering services at scale. Our model removes that constraint. Here, care is curated entirely around one person … their needs, their environment, their pace.

Home-based treatment also offers something inpatient services can’t – realism. Hospital stays can sometimes create a false sense of security or progress, and clients can struggle to maintain gains once they’re discharged back into complex environments. Our approach brings treatment into that very context; supporting not just the individual but the wider family or support system and helping change take root where it matters most.

Finally, it’s important to acknowledge the psychological toll of being surrounded by others who may also be in acute distress. While inpatient settings have their place, they can be countertherapeutic for some. Our model ensures that every therapeutic encounter happens in a setting that supports calm, privacy, and focus.”

As Clinical Director, what’s your vision for ensuring that Orchestrate Health continues to deliver exceptional, patient-centred care?

“For me, excellence in care starts with robust governance and a strong quality assurance framework. Every package of support should meet the same gold standard, regardless of who is delivering it. That means clear clinical oversight, regular review, and a culture of continuous learning.

Recruitment is also key. We’re very deliberate about who joins our team; not just in terms of credentials, but in their ability to connect, empathise, and adapt to each individual’s needs. And I’m always looking ahead: being open to innovative treatments and progressive models of care will help us stay responsive and relevant in a rapidly changing landscape.”

For those who may not have worked with you before, how would you describe your leadership style and approach to care?

“First and foremost, I’m a clinician. I believe visibility is essential to leadership, I’m always happy to be client-facing and hands-on where needed.

I lead from the front, and I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves. I aim to be someone the team can depend on … approachable, collaborative, and consistently present. I also believe in honesty – if we’re not the right service for someone, it’s better to say so from the outset than risk misaligned expectations.

In terms of treatment, my approach is always compassion-led. People come to us doing the best they can with the resources they have. Our job is to meet them with respect, validate their experience, and help build the tools they need to move forward.”
